Labor Management Meeting 04/10/26
- (Canceling staff overtime when under the staffing numbers)
The minimum staffing number will be re-evaluated in August. Per Director Demore no staff member should be canceled when the Division is under the minimum staffing number. Email sent out to all shift commanders with this information.
- (The need for two more transport vehicles)
Will place in the budget for the upcoming year. The F150 that was for the AD should now be accessible for hospital transports if needed. Also the recruiting vehicle can be signed out by Sergeant and above if needed and is not in use.
- (Female staff hair)
It was discussed that female hair being down does not present a safety hazard. It will be reviewed with the policy and possibly changed in the future.
- (Union to discuss some issues with staff after briefings)
Per Director Demore the union board has approval to speak after briefings as long as it does not create unnecessary overtime.
- (Wearing the black Division issued shirt all weekend)
Possible policy change
- (Adding an escort officer to the dorms and 5,6,8,9 at VCBJ)
Will discuss with Senior Management and follow up in the coming weeks. Potentially adding an ADM spot to the roster that is strictly voluntary overtime Mon – Fri 8am to 4pm. This will help with all the additional escorts from the dorms.
- (Spit Mask when placing inmates in the Pro – Straint Chair for staff safety)
Due to recent events with staff being spat on while securing inmates in the Pro – Straint Chair it was brought up to place spit mask on them while being secured. Director Demore was on board with these changes for staff safety. The policy will need to be updated and changed in the future.
- (Officer not doing transport)
All Division staff is expected to do transport. All staff will qualify on a yearly basis.
- (Negative EPN)
The word negative has been removed, and it is listed as an Employee Performance Notice.
- (Fast Track Discipline)
We would like to make changes to the process on fast-track discipline. Staff can use their five days before informing Senior Management of their discussion. Please take a Board member with you when you are facing any discipline.
- (Secure your Mop closets)
Senior Management will be conducting rounds. Please ensure that your supply closets are locked when not in use. Also, when an inmate is in the mop closet, they MUST be supervised by staff. Progressive disciplinary action will happen if this directive is not followed.
- (Professionalism)
From Senior Management, please be professional at all times while on duty
